From the South via the M6 motorway, merge onto the A75 (signposted South West Scotland, Dumfries, Stranraer) at J22 - At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the Dumfries ring road. - Follow the A75 over a further 4 roundabouts - at the 5th roundabout take the first left towards Cargenbridge. - At the next junction turn right onto the A711 towards Dalbeattie. - Entering Dalbeattie - Continue forward onto John Street A711 - Continue forward (signposted Auchencairn, Castle Douglas) - At crossroads turn left onto the A710 (signposted Solway Coast) - Colvend is 5 miles from Dalbeattie. Through Colvend a further mile or so turn right at the bus shelter signposted Portling. Drive past the Coastguard station and bear left at the fork in the road. Turn right at the sign for fishermans cottage, Treeling is at the end of the row of cottages on the left.

From the North via the A74(M) Leave the A74(M) at junction 15, then at roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A701 (signposted Moffat) Follow the A701 towards Dumfries. - At the Dumfries ring road (A75) take the 3rd exit towards Stranraer. Follow the A75 over a further 2 roundabouts - at the 3rd roundabout take the first left towards Cargenbridge. - At the next junction turn right onto the A711 towards Dalbeattie. - Entering Dalbeattie - Continue forward onto John Street A711 - Continue forward (signposted Auchencairn, Castle Douglas) - At crossroads turn left onto the A710 (signposted Solway Coast) - Colvend is 5 miles from Dalbeattie.
